A neighbour tries to douse the flames with a hosepipe
A firefighter battles the flames in vain
Fire destroys home in Klip
A devastating fire destroyed the family home of Costa and Areyro Scoufes in Klip Street on Saturday 22 September.
The fire started just before eight o' clock that evening in one of the bedrooms and flames engulfed the whole house within minutes, according to eyewitnesses.
Although three residents called the fire brigade immediately, the fire engine arrived only thirty minutes after the first call was logged. Neighbours in the mean time tried in vain to battle the flames with hose pipes.
The couple is currently visiting in America and their son was house sitting. The cause of the fire is not known.
Little Yentl
Yentl is missing!
Rachelle of Frederick Street writes:
This thoroughbred bulldog puppy named Yentl, was stolen on Wednesday 19th during a break-in in Oaklands/Orchards. My daughter was out at an audition from 11a.m and returned at 2 p.m. to discover the burglary.
For the record a silver 4x4 was seen outside the house and 2 white men were seen putting things in the vehicle. Many workmen have been in and out of the house since the beginning of the month when they moved in, so this was not noted as out of the ordinary.
We heard that a man was seen at a garage in Orange Grove trying to sell a puppy, but this person did not actually see the puppy and was not aware of the situation at the time.

Thank you kindly, Natalie
