Klip Street Party Print E-mail

The residents of Observatory gave freely at our recent Klip Street Party: R4 232,70 to be exact. We filled the Observatory Ratepayers Association's coffer with more than R2 200 after expenses.

Our fun was even captured by the Joburg East Express (on page 6 of August 23 2005) - and their news editor, Marieta Lombard, kindly sent us all the uncut, unabridged pictures NOT published...

The residents get a BIG thank you for making the day a success!
Thanks also goes to:
  • Jawitz Estate Agent's Anni Cloete and John Courage for supplying and putting up the gazebo's
  • Anni's husband, Nick, for braaiing all 124 pieces of boerewors
  • Shelley Rohland for buttering and selling them all!
  • Kensington resident Anthea Kruger who ran our lasagne stall
  • Aubrey Prager and his team for supplying our TV's for the day so that we could watch the Springboks play
  • Arvin of 11 Louise Street for the use of his decoder, toilet AND power points
  • The Hartman boys for running the music and booze stalls
  • Keith Peacock who donated R500 (and had free beers for the rest of the day)
  • Everyone who not only pitched up, but supported us to gather the thousands we need

The kids had a ball with the free jumping castle and free Oros - and the residents networked and coughed up readily for our raffle (and all the winners were still there at the end of the day to collect their prizes!)

Thanks to the following companies for giving freely and keeping our expenses to the minimum:

  • SA Breweries for the beer
  • WINEdotCOM for the wine
  • Coca-Cola for the soft drinks
  • The Cyrildene Zenex garage for the tank of petrol to the value of R250
  • La Trocadero for the full breakfast for two
  • Bella Napoli at the Zenex for the two pizzas off their menu
  • Neil of La Meche for the bottle of shampoo and conditioner to the value of R300
  • WINEdotCOM for the magnum bottle of wine
  • Peter Lotis for signing two of his hit songs
  • Theo, our first advertiser on the web, for the full body massage worth R350
  • SuperSport for the cooler bag

...and of course, all those residents who had tables and gladly paid over R100 to ORA.
