Marylin Sadie
We start the new year with sad news: one of Observatory's much-loved residents,
Marylin Sadie, a resident in Eckstein Street, died in a car accident on 3 January while holidaying in the Cape.

Her son, Francis, a Grade 11 pupil at Sacred Heart College, survived the crash.

The 51-year old Marylin, who was battling cancer last year, was an occupational therapist specialising in the disabled, and lately kids with special needs.

She was actively involved at Sacred Heart College where she worked tirelessly for the PTA, spending many a Saturday manning stalls, baking pancakes and even braaiing for the kids! She was also instrumental in campaigning for a healthier menu at the school's tuck shop.

Her funeral at the Maryvale Catholic Church was attended by more than 300 people, with tributes pouring in about Marylin's selflessness and caring.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Sadie family - and especially Francis.
